Synopsis

Pocoyo (meaning ‘Little Me’ in Spanish) is a curious young boy who dresses in blue and likes to play games. His adventures often include his close friends Elly (a graceful elephant), Pato (a yellow duck), Loula (a playful puppy) and Sleepy Bird.

Points to consider

Words of caution

Examples of accidental harm include:

  • In one episode Elly and Pocoyo are having a race and both of them crash on their scooters. Neither is hurt, but they did take the competition too seriously and must work together to complete the race.

Positive aspects

  • demonstrates caring, teamwork and loyalty
  • The use of a narrator enables children to “participate” in the show and are able to hear explanations and descriptions of what is happening in addition to watching the images on screen.

Questions to ask

Examples:

  • Why did Pocoyo and Elly crash?
  • How might they have avoided crashing their scooters?
  • What do you think about the way that they finished the race?
