Synopsis

Engie Benjy, his faithful dog Jollop and his ever-helpful fix it van Dan are the ones to call when something goes wrong with a machine. Engie Benjy is often called upon to help with Plane, Spaceship, Boat and Bus and with the assistance he receives from his friends he always comes up with a solution to the problem.

Points to consider

Words of caution

Promotes potentially unhealthy eating habits:

  • Fruity Fizz makes an appearance in a number of episodes and is a very popular drink.
  • Farmer Fred is “growing” fields of iced lollies. His farm also contains hills of iced cupcakes and sweet muffin trees.

Positive aspects

  • promotes creative thinking
  • encourages an atmosphere of friendliness, teamwork and helpfulness.

Questions to ask

  • Is there any other way that Engie could have solved that problem?
  • Do you think that a fruity fizz drink would be good for a machine in real life?
  • What types of food can be grown on a farm?
  • Parents can discuss with their children foods that are made as well as foods that are grown and can talk about the importance of a healthy diet
