Synopsis

Connie is a young mischievous cow who is curious about absolutely everything, which can sometimes cause problems. Every day is an adventure for Connie who explores the farm and surrounding countryside where she lives making all sorts of new friends in the process.

Points to consider

Words of caution

  • Connie gets stuck in the mud and a butterfly gets a sheep to ram her so that she will be unstuck. It works and Connie is thrown into the air, when she lands she is unhurt. Children may need to be reminded that, while this worked in the story, running at and ramming people is not a good idea.

Positive aspects

  • Demonstrates a child’s sense of wonder and curiosity and depicts the value of seeing the magic and beauty in the simple things of life.

Questions to ask

Help children to find alternative solutions, such as:

  • Do you think it might have hurt Connie when the sheep rammed her?
  • Was there another way that Connie could have got out of the mud?
  • If Connie was a person, how could we help her get unstuck?
