Synopsis
The Boohbahs are five shimmery pear shaped creatures, each a different colour that live in a glowing ball of light that travels around the world. Part of each show is given over to the story people who inhabit Storyland. They represent a diverse mix of humanity and together compose a single family. Each episode consists of a ‘warm-up’ dance, present giving, a visit to Storyland, and another Boohbah dance.
Points to consider
Words of caution
Instances of slapstick comedy, such as
- falling over in a paddling pool
- Grandpapa finding a suit of armour and trying to ride on a horse while wearing the suit. His movement is restricted and he keeps falling over, the horse doesn’t make things easy either.
Positive aspects
- promotes physical activity and exercise.
- demonstrates human diversity, representing many different races and nationalities, and imparts the importance of looking at other people as part of the same human family, regardless of colour or creed.
Questions to ask
- Would it be hard to move while wearing a suit of armour?
- Is there a way that Grandpapa could have gotten onto the horse without repeatedly falling over?
- Do you think that it would hurt more or less to fall wearing a suit of armour?
