Synopsis
Jungle Boy Mowgli (voiced by Haley Joel Osment) is missing the freedom of the jungle and finding village life too constraining. He sets off to meet his old friend Baloo (John Goodman) unaware that his friend Shanti (Mae Whitman) thinks that he has been captured by a wild bear and follows him into the jungle where both their lives are endangered.
Points to consider
Words of caution
- There is a little slapstick comedy such as Shanti being scared by a boy pretending to be a tiger and falls into a river.
- Some younger children might be scared by some of the content in this movie such as children being lost in the jungle and confronted by wild animals.
- The tiger, Shere Khan, is very scary and becomes quite aggressive when cornered.
Positive aspects
- loyalty
- friendship
- courage
- kinship
Questions to ask
- Do you think Mowgli should have gone off by himself without telling anyone where he was going?
- Should Shanti have followed Mowgli into the jungle or gone to find an adult?
- When you want to be in two different places is there a better way to work things out?
