Classifications - Pay TV

Who classifies programs on Pay TV?

The individual Pay TV service providers (e.g. Foxtel, Optus) classify their own programs, using the program classification system contained in the OFLC’s Guidelines for the Classification of Films and Videotapes together with appropriate consumer advice.

What classification symbols do Pay TV licensees use?

Pay TV licensees use the symbols G to MA. If programs are to be classified R18+, can be screened if access can be limited by the use of disabling devices. Programs classified X, or those refused classification by the OFLC, may not be screened on Pay TV.
